Pods are fertile vessels of latent potential: evocative, symbolic, tactile. In Podscapes, I invite viewers to a moment of stillness in a noisy world, to ponder the possibility held in each moment.
This work stems from 25 years of experimentation, play, and the altering of flat surfaces into a realm of depth and dimension. Through sandblasting and painting, color and texture are layered and intertwined. By subjecting plate glass to both chemical and physical processes, I create environments suggestive of the transformative forces of nature.
In my investigation of surface, scale, and space, I give the forms a sensuous context. The pods hang, awaiting the right conditions to find fertile ground, portraying the potential growth contained in silence and reflection.
